Minutes from 19 October 2005 Meeting- Open House Meeting

Members Present: Grace, Betsy, Sue, Jennifer, Carrie, and new members-Amanda, Kelly, Christina, and Jill.

Family visitors=Kelly’s husband and parents.

Items Discussed:

1. Getting new ideas for events and offerings in Swanton.

a. Story hour at library after school. People are in town doing other things like-gymnastics and may have time to spare. Tuesdays are a good day for this-3:30-4:30pm, either weekly or monthly. Could be just a winter activity.

b. Kelly’s husband is very computer savy and artistic, we could use him in future events/planning if we need to.

c. Fund raising may come into play in the future. Summer is a great time to fundraise while playgroups are on hiatus.

2. Friday Playgroup-Going well with good turnout, per Betsy and Carrie. Structured activity especially at closing time would help facilitate a routine and closer for children, possibly use the parachute as a closing activity every time. A clock is needed in the room.

3. Monday Playgroup going well. There is a nutritionist coming on November 14 at 9:30am.

4. Thursday Playgroup going well. Visit to pumpkin patch was a success.

5. Skater tots is going well. Have communicated with Highgate liaison about free ice time last year… this may happen.

6. PJ Bash-Have traveling story teller like last year or have movie? It was decided to have a movie time instead with pizza. Try and get donations for pizza to serve to kids and juice boxes. Possible dates are 17 or 18 November. Grace will email Julie Beney and find out which date works best. This will coincide with Pre-K registration. Christina will find out about Pizza prices from Shaggy’s owner.

7. Water Babies at Brannon’s Pool is Wednesdays at 9:30-10:15am and Thursdays 6:00-6:45pm. To register call St. Albans Rec Dept at 524-1514.

8. Highgate and Swanton Success by Six are sponsoring a Parent workshop on Jan 18th, at The Abbey. Each town will give 20 dollars to cover the cost of food. Michelle Douglas from Highgate is the POC for the event, anyone interesting in going is welcome.
